Our Story
Ideal Leadership Academy was founded to challenge the status quo in education—where too often, students are boxed in by outdated methods and narrow definitions of success. We saw a system that focused on compliance over curiosity, deficits over potential, and uniformity over individuality. We set out to build something different.
At Idea Leadership Academy, we believe brilliance comes in many forms. Our academy was created to support students who think differently, lead boldly, and learn on their own terms. Whether a child is navigating a learning difference, expressing giftedness, or simply isn’t thriving in traditional settings, we offer a space where they are seen, supported, and stretched.
Through experiential learning, emerging technologies, and adaptive, AI-driven tools, we create environments where students don’t just keep up—they rise. Because education shouldn’t just be about passing tests. It should be about unlocking purpose.
Founder/CEO Timesha Brooks
Timesha Brooks is the Founder and CEO of Ideal Leadership Academy and a nationally recognized mathematics education leader with 20+ years of experience strengthening instruction and improving student outcomes. She has served as a classroom teacher, adjunct professor, instructional coach, and curriculum specialist—partnering with schools and districts to implement rigorous, standards-aligned, student-centered mathematics.
Timesha currently serves as the Senior Specialist for Professional Learning Design for an internationally recognized curriculum company, where she leads the design of high-impact professional learning that builds teacher capacity and supports effective schoolwide implementation. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Spelman College, a Master’s degree in Biostatistics from Georgia State University, and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.
Co-Founder/COO Elissa Russell
Elissa Russell is the Chief Operating Officer of Ideal Leadership Academy and a proven operator at the intersection of education, technology, and workforce development. She is the founder and CEO of READI, an EdTech startup that blends instructor-led training with immersive virtual reality to reskill young adults for sustainable careers. With more than a decade of experience living overseas, Elissa brings a global lens to building accessible learning solutions—especially for under-resourced communities.
A multi-venture entrepreneur, Elissa has launched and led businesses across education, logistics, and culinary services, including MenYu’, a boutique catering brand. She holds a Master’s in Education from Georgia State University and has been recognized with honors including the Clinton Global Initiative award and a Civic Innovation Fellowship. As COO, Elissa is known for turning vision into systems—building partnerships, strengthening operations, and ensuring programs deliver real, measurable impact.
